With artists and creatives in mind-- but everyone welcome. There is so much going on out there in the world that is depressing and unpleasant. Let's get our feelings out into the clay!

About the event
Pottery on the wheel is nice and everything, but what about just making objects by just squishing around clay for a couple of hours while having fun chatting with other artists or creatives?
Please pay in store at Nova, but RSVP here.
This event is about exploring clay in a creative and playful way. No experience necessary. Bring your creative self and take this opportunity to connect with other creative folks. This is not a class, but a casual, fun, creative experience. Do not come thinking to make something that you can sell -make it for art's sake.
warning**
The excercises will involve political points of view that are left of centre.
First week we will do excercises with clay using the images and perhaps voice prompts of certain people, for example, that may be in power in the States right now. I will have some ideas to start you off.
Second week will involve making a second project, something you imagine will give you peace when when you are inwardly despairing or angry.
Kate will be there making her own cathartic clay creations along with you. There are books hanging around the studio for inspiration, but feel free to bring your electronic computer device to look for inspiration too -we have free internet. Complimentary tea provided, or BYOWine or anything else.
We'll meet three times altogether. The first two times for making with clay, plus one time for a glazing session after all your "glumpy" cathartic art is ready to be glazed.
We'll meet 3 times:
Monday February 24th 4-6pm
Monday March 3rd 4-6pm
Drop-in glazing day - date TBA
(*We will set a drop-in glazing date that works for you and is appropriate for your piece based on when it is ready for glazing)
Your work will then get fired a second time and end up all colourful and shiny. Or dull and black. And you can come to pick it up when it is ready.
This event takes place in the gallery at Nova Art and Craft Boutique in the Folklife Village. 575 North Road, Gabriola, BC
The cost for 3 sessions is sliding scale, $75-$115. All materials included. You can also pay in store, or via etransfer to novagabriola@gmail.com
We are offering this event on a sliding scale. Please pay what you can, and if you can afford to pay it forward it will be a big help!
