For Artists:
Gallery Submission Policies
Thank you for considering Nova Boutique & Gallery on Gabriola Island, for the submission of your artwork. We have solo and group shows throughout the year, with a special focus on the busiest months. But we also have space for art in the boutique and gallery that we keep up all the time.
Please review the following guidelines before submitting your work:
Submission Process: We accept submissions via email only. Please send all submissions to: novagabriola@gmail.com
Include "Submission: [Your Name]" in the subject line.
All submissions must include:
1. 4-6 images of your recent work. Image Requirements: Images should be clear, well-lit, and represent your work accurately.
2. A quick paragraph introducing yourself and your art. If you are looking for a show of your work, mention here and describe the theme. Proposals from art collectives are accepted too.
3. Artist CV/Resume: If you have one, include a cv with details of your art education, previous exhibitions, awards, residencies, and any other relevant professional experience.
Review Process: Submissions are reviewed as they come in. Please allow 2-4 weeks for a response.
We are interested in showing the work of artists of any age, at any stage. We look for talent, uniqueness, content, quality of execution, and saleability. Not necessarily expecting all those things in one! If in doubt that you qualify, please apply anyway. We won’t be able to provide individual feedback or critiques on your work. If you don’t hear back from Nova in under 4 weeks, we are unable to carry your work at this time. Feel free to follow-up via email.
There is a basic consignment contract that outlines the expectations of our relationship to be signed.
Space Rental:
Half of Nova Gallery (one “wing” on the mezzanine upstairs) is for rent in the fall and winter for one month leases, with the exception of the week around the Thanksgiving Gallery Tour. Can be a group of artists or an individual. The cost is $950+gst. December is $1250+gst. You would be in charge of your sales and promotion, but retain 100% of your sales.

3. If we like what you do, and especially if it is unique to Gabriola, we will get back to you asap. We look for uniqueness, saleability, and craftsmanship. Experience selling in stores or markets is a bonus but not mandatory. We like to give people a leg up at Nova.
Membership
Annual Membership - GOLD = $250/yr
With this membership you receive a 15% discount on everything at Nova except books for the rest of 2024. From time to time you will be offered other perks that no other shoppers receive, like a preview to an art show that you are eager to see, and get first pick on.
Memberships can be renewed annually.
